Both these books are extremely readable, and cover the evidence authoritatively and comprehensibly.

Patrick Parker has posted a helpful blog entry on Presbyterian in McComb“So How Did They Decide on Canon Anyway”, 16 Sep 2007, which discusses the canon. In a later posting “Orthodoxy and canon, 24 Sep 2007, he discusses how to read canonical books.

James Montgomery Boice’s testimony after learning of his cancer diagnosis in March 2000. He went to be with the Lord on 15 June 2000.
John Piper, senior pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church, wrote an article entitled Don’t Waste Your Cancer on the eve of surgery, after he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in February 2006. The original article now contains comments by David Powlinson of the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation, who was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in March 2006.
